Every time I see a white room I am drawn towards it, like a moth to the light!
I have recently been thinking about new design ideas for our living room and I think (providing the husband agrees) this is the route I am going to take, White with a rustic, homely feel.
White does not need to equate to boring, you can still create a warm and welcoming home. Use key pieces of furniture to create visual interest, layer texture and use different materials, wood, metal, leather.
White rooms are an opportunity to draw attention to elements that might otherwise be lost. To focus on the more beautiful and sentimental possessions in the room. To allow for texture and light to be focal points, not afterthoughts. Pictures and art always look beautiful on a White wall too. They seem to pop rather than fade away into a more colourful design.
There is a psychological connection between the colour and design of a room and our mood. Light is the first element that dictates our mood so keeping the design simple allows light to flood our environment therefore having a more positive impact on us.
It always looks clean and bright and the simplicity allows you to clear your mind both visually and mentally. Perfect after a hard day at work!
I love all these images Laura :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely weekend.
These are beautiful images Laura. I love white & rustic. My old house was all white but since Ive moved in with Neil I havnt quite managed to talk him round but Im working on it. Hope you share images when you are done. I have just given away a lovely shabby chic unit as it doesnt match anything now :(
